Correct Pricing Labels

pricing labelIt’s time for another retail story pulled from my internal memory vault. This one has to do with the importance of correct pricing labels. We’ve had a few blog posts that talked about people suing stores over inaccurate labels. Although lawsuits don’t happen all the time, wrong labeling does. Even though it won’t result in a million dollar loss, it will result in an argument with the customer and a headache. Whatever the price is on an item, you’re obligated to give the customer that price.

I can’t even recall the number of times when an employee had to use the price tagging gun and did it wrong. I had customers purchasing $60 items for $20. Most of the time the issue only happened when corporate would change the price of an item or if a sale tag wasn’t taken down after the sale ended. The more often prices are labeled wrong, the more money your business is losing.

Always double check the gun when changing prices. Be methodical when removing sale prices and signs. Although customers may love getting the item for a cheaper price, your manager won’t. This is why it’s always good to hire highly organized and meticulous employees!
